Currently, I’m in the process of establishing my brand in Bogotá, Colombia. I’ve recently finished with my studies in Fashion Design, and have established a line of products of an unique conception: my goal is to be able to establish my work as an artist by means of specially designed products, of unique conception and elaboration, also looking to raise awareness on the use of products made of different materials and fabrics, other than those that affect the environment.

The process involves many different types of fabrics, ranging from linen, jean, cotton, and other materials not harmful to the environment. My method involves the transformation of such materials by means of decorating and altering them by hand, mostly using cloth intended paint, making them unique and original, especially taking into account that I constantly involve my work in art, and most of the work I perform on the fabrics is related to my art pieces. My collections are aimed at young, adventurous and risk taking women, with a consciousness of our impact on our environment, and who have a strong perception and awareness of the cultural environment we live in.
My inspiration is heavily influenced by psychedelic and symphonic rock, primarily by the work of Pink Floyd, but also by other types of artistic expressions, such as cinematography, with the work of directors such as Alfred Hitchcock and Bunuel. It started basically from the need I had to paint, to express myself through art. It evolved into combining it with my other two passions, fashion and design. I draw great satisfaction from the ability to create something original and unique that also permits the appreciation of art, in a useful and practical way, as are my handbags.  In addition, something that I consider to be noteworthy is the process of hand painting the fabrics, usually with abstract elements, which brings the fabric to life, it gives it another perspective, which visually, combined with the feel of the fabrics themselves, offers a whole new level of appreciation of them. When I’m creating them, I feel disconnected to the world, I take enormous pleasure from being able to bring to life a work of art made with love and passion for what I do.

One of my biggest nightmares is when the sewing machines stop working, when the needle breaks, it jams, or something like that happens, especially since I’m not very mechanically inclined, its horrible because it’s not something I can usually fix right away.. It’s the worst because it takes your time away, it breaks your concentration, it interrupts the creative process. Other than that, designing something is probably one of the best feelings in the world. I’d have to say that probably one of my biggest achievements up to now has been being invited as a Designer to participate in a runway show here in Bogotá, especially due to the fact that one of the organizers of the event really loved my work. Why it’s all worth it? Simply because of the joy and satisfaction it gives me. I really enjoy this, it makes my everyday problems and issues more manageable, and most important of all, because I do it with love and enjoyment. I really love what I do.
